This year’s WELT Economic Summit, taking place at the Axel Springer High-rise in Berlin this week, will take as its theme: ‘Artificial Intelligence: Dawn of a New World Order.’ The 15th annual convening brings together a range of speakers including German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, and President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, who will give her remarks at the pre-summit dinner.
The summit agenda will include a firm focus on artificial intelligence, along with the on-going war in Ukraine, upcoming elections at international, European, and national levels, and associated threats to democracy, along with other discussion points all held under the Chatham House Rule.

Axel Springer – publisher of WELT – has been one of the traditional publishers in the industry to take a pioneering stance on AI, incorporating it into several of its brands. Last week, the organisation announced it had entered into a partnership with OpenAI ‘to deepen beneficial use of AI in journalism’.
