Kerry Kent has been appointed to the newly established position of Head of Policy at industry membership body British Screen Forum. Kerry is a highly experienced media policy strategist, whose career has included senior roles at Change.org, Warner Bros. Discovery, and the Professional Publishers Association (PPA).
The appointment represents a significant move for British Screen Forum, whose purpose is to enhance the reputation and prosperity of the UK screen sectors by providing opportunities for its members to influence policy and the thinking around policy, and to gain insight into a wide range of developments likely to affect screen sector businesses.
Reporting to CEO Pete Johnson, Kerry will work closely with the carefully curated British Screen Forum membership of around 100 senior executives, drawn from TV, film, video games and social video, to enhance further the organisation’s significant contribution to the UK public policy debate. She joins later this month, in time for an upcoming British Screen Forum roundtable with Shadow Culture Secretary, Thangam Debbonaire.
British Screen Forum CEO, Pete Johnson commented: “We are delighted to have secured such an experienced and effective policy specialist with a wealth of knowledge of the sector. I am very confident that our ability to serve the policy-related interests of our members, and the sector as a whole, will be greatly enhanced by her contribution.”
Speaking about her appointment, Kerry Kent said: “The screen sectors are vital to the cultural and economic life of the UK and I am passionate about supporting the excellent content they create. I look forward to working with British Screen Forum members and with decision-makers to ensure there is a supportive policy environment that enables the UK screen sectors to continue to thrive.”
